Ready Steady Stick Christmas 2014

Ready, Steady, Stick

RSS’s Christmas Journey!

On Saturday 6th December we held our Christmas RSS event where 27 children plus adults enjoyed an afternoon of music, singing, crafts, storytelling, games and eating ‘Christmas nibbles.’

The afternoon began with lots of noise as we sang and played the musical instruments. We then listened to the story of ‘Jesus’ Christmas Party.’ Afterwards there was an hour getting messy with glue and paint as we created and made angels, kings, sheep, cards, and pictures to take home with us. Some of us even decorated our own Christmas cake!

It was then time for a break so we stopped and listened to the next exciting episode in our jungle drama where a sheep appeared; it seems it was lost and in the wrong story! We also listened and asked questions of our special visitor for the afternoon, Jonathan Kerry the Diocesan Secretary, who talked about what Christmas meant to him.

By now we were all exhausted so a quick stop for Christmas refreshments to recharge our batteries and then on to the party games.

The afternoon finished with us taking our junk model nativity, which we had made, into church, and singing ‘Away in a Manger’.
