Heart of the Forest Festival: June 2015

our pitch at the Festival

St. Laurence's church was representedat the Heart of the Forest Festival again on Saturday, 20th June. On off were children's activities, including badge making, colouring, tattoos (non-permanent, of course) and conversation.

Despite the weather, there were many visitors to our tents with some children returning 2 or 3 times. Some even decided that a special badge for Dad would be a suitable present for Father's Day.

The theme of the event was 'Disney Characters and our activities centred around some of the popular characters met in the films. Disney Princesses were  ever-popular, as was 'Olaf' from Frozen, but some of the old favourites, such as Winnie the Pooh were also in demand. The children enjoyed being to make their own 'unique' badge.

During the afternoon a special visitor arrived at our pitch to join in the festivities. Can you recognise her?

Yes, it's a very wet Puss in Boots, otherwise known as our curate, Linda.

The Festival was opened by our own Reverend Vivien Elphick and other attractions included a local dance group, male voice choir, clowns and a fly-past by a Spitfire. Those who had stayed to the end of the Festival got a really good view of the plane as it had to fly beneath the low cloud cover.
