Christmas events at St Laurence


Friday December 1st

10 a.m. – 11.15 a.m in church hall

Little Fishes: the babes and pre-school children will have their Christmas party along with their carers. Cost £1 per family. All welcome even if not regular members.

Thursday December 7th at 6 p.m.

At St Laurence’s

Christmas@Measham: the village event with carol singing to the Donisthorpe Scout Band; singing by the choirs of our two schools; switch on of Christmas Lights in High Street and on the Tower of Light; Santa arrives; refreshments and stalls in church hall; tombola; treasure hunt and possibly a carousel. Wrap up warm and bring a torch

Sunday December 3rd  at 9.30 a.m.

Advent Holy Communion in Church; Sunday Fun in the church hall for younger members.

Saturday December 9th

2 – 4.30pm.

Ready Steady Stick Christmas event:  thinking about, and acting, the Christmas story, crafts, games and a party lunch. In church and church hall

Wednesday 13th December at 2pm

Townswomen’s Guild Christmas Carol service in church

Sunday December 17th at 9.30 a.m.

Instant Nativity: an on the spot, unrehearsed edition of the Christmas story. Come along and be a shepherd or an angel. Imagine what it was like to be there that first Christmas. It’s always been great fun in previous years

Sunday December 17th at 3 p.m.

Christmas Carol service in church: the carols of Christmas, the story of Christmas and then refreshments.

Thursday 21st  December at 10 a.m.

Measham CE School Christmas service in church

Christmas Eve December 24th at

4 p.m.

Christingle service: the ever popular start to Christmas ‘proper’. For all the family, this service lasts about 45-50 minutes. If you haven’t been to one before come along. We take a collection for the Children’s Society

Christmas Eve December 24th

At 11.30 p.m.

Midnight Communion: the wonderful mystery of this service as we watch as Jesus is born but also in the bread and wine remember what he will do for us out of love.

Christmas Day December 25th at

9.30 a.m.

Holy Communion at Normanton-le-Heath carols to sing and an informal communion service as we greet the new born baby Jesus

December 31st at 10am
