Heritage Lottery Fund update

The project is going well.

On the repair side of the project, we've had visits from all sorts of specialists in stonework, glass, and in structural engineering. As well as a check on whether or not we have bats. We await their reports so that our architect can draw up a full specification of the work that needs doing. Once the HLF people and the church planning body have approved the specification, then we can go out to tender and find out total costs.

We now have plans prepared to develop the north-west corner of the church into a servery and welcome area, and for the pew platforms at the front of church to be removed so as to facilitate wheelchair access.

Finally we have to develop heritage activities - the purpose of these is to improve access to, and learning about, the heritage of church and Village. The activities team have visited other heritage sites to see how it is done. We now have to sit down and work out what is right for us.

We are going to need others to be involved. If you fancy learning to be a guide to show visitors round, then do contact Vivien Elphick on http://teamrector@stlaurencechurchmeasham.org.uk
