Christian Aid Global Hunger Urgent Appeal

Thank you to all across the Woodfield Team who have contributed to the Global Hunger Appeal launched by Christian Aid. Over 30 million people in 20 countries are teetering on the brink of famine. Now is the time to act and save lives. This is a global hunger emergency. The Covid-19 pandemic, violent conflict and the climate crisis have all increased global hunger. Now, people in countries including South Sudan, Afghanistan and Burkina Faso are facing the very real threat of starvation.

Christian Aid is on the ground in some of the most vulnerable countries across the world, in South Sudan, Ethiopia, Burkina Faso and Afghanistan. Christian Aid partners work with communities to prevent famine and build resilience by delivering life-saving food and support to people who need them most. No one should face acute malnutrition, be forced to flee their homes, or have to resort to child marriage as a coping strategy. Families desperately need food and clean water to survive.

From collections in our churches, we have sent £475 to Christian Aid and many have made donations online as well. Here is a thank you from Christian Aid:

Thank you for supporting our Global Hunger Appeal with your donation of £475.
With your generous donation, we can help those worst affected by extreme hunger. Together we can distribute life-saving food, support and build resilience.
The funds raised from this appeal will allow Christian Aid to continue responding in areas like South Sudan. Christian Aid are providing emergency cash assistance to enable those affected to access food, fishing gear, seeds and tools, as well as providing much needed Covid-19 hygiene and sanitation awareness campaigns.

Thank you for your generosity,
