Farewell to Hazel

In January we said a sad, but fond farewell to our curate, Hazel, who had served in the Woodfield Team for four and a half years.

A buffet was held on Saturday afternoon at the Memorial Hall in Packington, the village which Hazel called home during her time here. The different churches in the Team were all represented and, in addition to the delicious spread, were treated to some amusing anecdotes about Hazel, a newly written song, called Hazel White (to the tune of Edelweiss), and the opportunity to give Hazel our personal thanks and best wishes.

On Sunday, a special Songs of Praise service was held, with many of Hazel's favourite hymns, further talks to remember and appreciate Hazel's time here, a presentation of gifts and Hazel's final address to the joint congregations of the Team. In this Hazel expressed her appreciation of the training she had received in preparation for the move to her new post; she summarised the progress that had been made in bringing the individual churches together to form a Team and challenged us to continue this process as a way to strengthen our Mission in this part of Leicestershire.

Hazel has now moved to the Parishes of St. Anne and St. Mary in Moseley, Birmingham, to serve as Associate Priest.
