December 4th saw the Christmas@Measham evening get underway. Supported by hundreds of people the  event started with carol singing accompanied by the Donisthorpe Scout Band.  Melody Blue, the local community choir, sang for us. Hot drinks and mince pies were snapped up in the church hall.

The head teachers (Mr Fisher and Mrs Elmore) of our 2 local primary schools formally opened the event. Molly (from St Charles'), the winner of the poster competition, switched on the Christmas lights and the Tower of Light. The lights look wonderful. Santa arrived on his sleigh and was kept very busy - a long queue formed waiting to see him.

High Street shops were open - thank you to all who supported them. These businesses are an important part of village life.

The total raised by the Tower of Light is £764.88. That will go to support the work of Measham Medical Unit.

So thanks to the local businesses who supported the event, to the Parish Council who make it possible with the lights, and  to the parish Council sub-committee who organise the event, along with all the many who play their part. Thanks to the library for 'hosting' the posters for the poster competition and judging the winner.
