Samara appeal - update

Samara Appeal

More news! Our donations of clothes have arrived and a personal thank you from Samara herself which reads: "I write to thank you for your support in my recent appeal for the refugees and internally displaced people in Syria and Iraq.  Every donation makes a big difference to these people because we are all volunteers, and do not use your donations to cover our expenses.  I am so keen for every penny donated to go directly to helping the people we are serving with this work.Through Feed the Hungry (charity no.1112955) Samara’s Aid Appeal has received your kind donation of:  £30.00

There are more than 23.5 million people across these two countries who are in desperate need of humanitarian assistance and with your support we have achieved these amazing outcomes since I started this appeal at the end of August 2014:

  • 41 consignments (lorries and containers) of aid sent to Iraq, Syria and Jordan
  • 1,750 first aid kits sent to Syria
  • 11 ambulances bought and sent to Syria
  • Nearly 1,000 care packs for post-natal women, babies, families and women who have escaped IS
  • A range of medical equipment for use in an emergency and intensive care setting, donated and sent to Syria

In August 2014 I stepped out in faith, responding to God’s call to “start collecting” aid to send out to the Middle East.  My vision was to fill and send one lorry of winter clothes shoes and bedding.  At the time it seemed impossible and I would never have believed that just 18 months later we would have been able to send the volume of aid that we have.  It has been an amazing journey both on a practical level as well as in faith.

As the “worst humanitarian crisis of our time” escalates, I will continue to focus on what we can do on a practical level to support the millions left behind inside these countries who are in such desperate need.  Clothing, hygiene and medical aid will continue to be a great priority for my appeal, and in the future food.  I hope very much that over the course of 2016 you will feel inspired to participate in some appeals that we are running for different types of aid.

Thank you again and God bless you."

Now for the photos which show the clothes arriving and children and adults in the camp.
