Beyond the Stable and Share the Light

Beyond the Stable and Share the Light

Christmas may be over but the celebrating hasn’t finished. Did you enjoy the carol service, the Christingle service? Then don’t stop there.

You’ll have seen a star shining boldly on church this Advent and Christmas. This is because we are joining in with the national #followthestar campaign led by the Church of England. You may have seen the national adverts on television. In the run up to Christmas, there’s been a focus on following the star and finding Jesus.

But it doesn’t all end on Christmas day. This year the Woodfield Team of churches are taking part in a pilot aimed at encouraging us to come back in the New Year to special events at Epiphany and Candlemas. Invitations will be given out and posters put up. Come along and who could you invite or bring along?

So on January 5th, come and travel ‘Beyond the Stable’.

At  9.30am, there will be a special Epiphany service in church when we will go beyond the stable. All welcome. Children will have their own time at Sunday Fun in the hall

On top of that, there isBeyond the Stable – an Epiphany Party” also on the 5th January: at 4pm at Measham Church hall (DE12 7HZ). We will explore the arrival of the Kings and their unlikely gifts for a child. There will be fun with party games; and we’ll make a party crown, share a party feast and there will be a small gift for each family to take home. All welcome

That will be followed by Share the Light on Candlemas, Sunday 2nd February. Again there will be a special  9.30am service, with Sunday Fun for the children.

At 3pm we will Share the Light as we gather around the campfire to bless the candles at the rear of St Laurence Church Measham. So if you have a candle or 2 that you use at home bring it along to be blessed, and take that blessing home along with a little gift reminding us that we too can be light in the world. There will be hot chocolate and snacks as we gather in the glow of the fire.

So let’s carry on the celebrating.
