Woodfield Team: The Team Weekend

Woodfield Team: The Team Weekend

Ode to Joy: finding joy in our walk with Jesus

An exciting weekend to help us to get to know each other better across the Team. The theme is ‘joy’ and it’s hoped we’ll have loads of fun together. More details will be available in  a little while Would be good to have an idea of numbers so do let Vivien Elphick know if you’re coming (01530 270354 or teamrector@stlaurencechurchmeasham.org.uk). No set charge but we invite donations. Taking place at St Laurence Church, Measham DE12 7HZ

We have 2 people helping at different stages of the weekend:

Bishop Peter Fox will be with us on Friday night and will be our preacher on Sunday morning. Peter is the only bishop who is also a member of the Magic Circle. He has studied magic since the age of 7 and found he had particular gift for it. He has been a parish priest, often in rural ministry. In the 1980s he started a parish in Papua New Guinea. Later between 2002 and 2006 he was Bishop of Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea He then served in parish ministry in the Diocese of Norwich (being a Norfolk man by origin) until retiring 2 years ago. He is now Assistant Bishop in this diocese living at Castle Donington.

The Great Raymondo (Raymond Pollock) has appeared on TV, in Theatre, in Cabaret, at Parties, Corporate events.

His love for seeing people laugh and knowing for himself the benefits of laughter (life has delivered him a good few knocks),  took him down the path of delivering Laughter workshops; running workshops for businesses, for the NHS and for voluntary organisations and he can usually be found delivering workshops at Glastonbury Music festival. His quiet faith in Jesus is magically interwoven through all he does and how he experiences life. He is a naturally gifted multi-talented entertainer, an amazing father to twins Alexander and Rowena, a supportive husband, sensitive friend and generally great person to be around. He is ‘managed’ and expertly assisted by his daughter Rowena. And is a friend of Joanne’s! He will be with us on Saturday morning.

Children are welcome at the Laughter workshops and have their own activities during the adult Input session. On this particular Sunday of the month Kids’ Kingdom from Appleby would normally meet at Appleby but they are visiting Measham for the morning. This means that during the service there will be suitable activities for primary school age children. Younger children are welcome but need an adult/carer to stay with them.
