St. Laurence Church Measham is trying to raise funds for a complete overhaul of the church organ. Over its life to date, the organ has been regularly played for Sunday services and many local families will have heard it played at baptisms, weddings and funerals. It would be fitting to restore the organ so that future generations will be able to enjoy organ music too.

Built in 1885 by Taylor's of Leicester, the church organ has had various repairs and maintenance work over the last 150 years, but is now in need of a major overhaul, involving replacement of all leathers, re-fitting them and cleaning, testing and regulating them. A much more intensive cleaning is required of all the pipes, keys, the pedal board and many other parts. This will mean removing most of the parts to Cousins Workshop and then rebuilding the organ.
The full cost of the overhaul amounts to £30,000 and the Church will be making a sizeanb;e contribution to the fund. Grants will also be sought and local businesses approached. If you are able to help, see below for ways to contribute. Every pound will count.
The pictures below show the poor condition of the bottom motor board (left) and the Internal pipe motors (right).
